“We are delighted to be supporting the
volunteer firefighters in our neighbourhood in Libiš. Having Spolana, one of
the largest chemical companies in our country, as a neighbor, is a lifelong
partnership. However, thanks to mutual communication, it is developing in the
right direction,” Miroslav Falta, Spolana’s executive, said
upon the firefighting equipment’s delivery. “The CAS 40 has reliably served our
corporate firefighters. Thanks to its robust construction and excellent
technical condition, I am convinced that it will continue helping the Libiš
firefighters in extinguishing and other emergency operations for many years
ahead.”
Besides Miroslav Falta, the ceremony in
front of the firefighters’ base in Libiš was also attended by the chief of
Spolana’s corporate firefighters, Martin Tomi, and six other firefighters
working for Spolana. Mayor of Libiš Pavlína Komeštíková and Vice-mayor Marcel
Eder and the head of the local firefighters in Libiš, David Zygmund, accepted
the donation on behalf of the municipality of Libiš.
“It is amazing to have such a generous company
such as Spolana as a neighbour,” Libiš Mayor Pavlína Komeštíková said upon the delivery of the new
addition to the Libiš firefighting fleet. “We want to thank Spolana very
much for its donation, the CAS 40 fire truck, for our volunteer firefighters.”
The Libiš fire brigade will now use the CAS
40 fire truck built on the Tatra 815 chassis for their rescue operations. The
engine’s cabin offers sufficient space for a four-member crew with the
necessary gear. The driving power is provided by an air-cooled diesel V12 engine,
Tatra T3-930-30, having a maximum power of 235 kW from its 19-litre capacity.
The truck holds 8,200 litres of water and 800 litres of foamer. The
firefighting equipment also includes a decontamination rail in the front.
“We are happy about the new addition to
our fleet,” David Zygmund, the chief of
the local volunteer firefighters in Libiš, expressed the feelings of the entire
firefighting community, which includes all age categories. “It
is a piece of Czech firefighting history, for which we will perfectly care, so
it can serve our region faithfully for many years.”
The Libiš fire brigade has an almost
125-year-old history. With more than 100 members, it is one of the largest fire
departments in the Mělník district. They help fight fires, floods, and other
natural disasters and remove the consequences of large-scale accidents. Also,
they are active in preventive programmes, work with young people, and cultural
activities. With the municipality’s contribution, their technical equipment can
compare with professional firefighters. They are also proud of their unique
collection of historic fire engines. The oldest fire truck dates back to 1915.
