“We have long sought good neighbourly relations with the local authorities located near our production sites. We have a long tradition of giving financial donations that municipalities and towns use for cultural, social or sporting events, or to revitalise public spaces,” says Mariusz Wnuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group.

"We see supporting the communities and towns located near our production plants as an important part of our social responsibility, which includes not only supporting local communities, but also supporting the environment, education and care for our employees," added Zbigniew Pawłucki, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of ORLEN Unipetrol Group.

The towns and municipalities that received the donations this year include Český Jiřetín, Hora Svaté Kateřiny, Horní Jiřetín, Klíny, Litvínov, Lom, Louka u Litvínova, Mariánské Radčice, Meziboří, Most, Nová Ves v Horách, Osek, Želenice, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Veltrusy, Chvatěruby, Úžice, Kozomín, Zlončice, Zlosyň, Brandov, Neratovice, Libiš, Obříství, Kly, Tišice, Tuhaň, and Kojetice.

“We are delighted by this support provided by the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation, and we want to thank for it. This year, we will allocate the donation to various projects. For example, we will purchase new equipment for a retirement home, support technical and polytechnical education, purchase sports elements for the youth, and assist in organising the regional round of a Scout race,” said Marek Hrvol, Mayor of the town of Most. He adds: “We have been striving to support leisure-time activities in the town of Most for a long time. We truly appreciate the donation that will help us in our efforts.”

Last year, Litvínov used a donation from ORLEN Unipetrol to support a number of cultural and social events. “This year, we want to allocate the funding of CZK 350,000 to prepare the programme for this year’s ‘Christmas in the Ore Mountains’. We welcome this contribution and want to thank for it,” said Kamila Bláhová, Mayor of the town of Litvínov.

“We have repeatedly received donations from ORLEN Unipetrol and are thankful for it. We plan to use this year’s donation to renovate and upgrade the playing elements in children’s playgrounds. We are thrilled with this cooperation that has been on a high level over a long term,” said Libor Lesák, Mayor of the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou.

The ORLEN Unipetrol Group and the ORLEN Unipetrol Foundation have supported local communities for a long time. This year, the ‘ORLEN Unipetrol to People’ and ‘Spolana to People’ campaigns, in which the locals chose the project to be supported by CZK 1 million from the Group, contributed to opening a children’s and workout playground in Veltrusy and revitalising the surroundings of the Pilař Pond in Most. Through the corporate komUNIta initiative, the Group supports the volunteering of its employees and their ideas for improving the places around them. The Group also regularly organises Volunteer Days, when employees help charity organisations clean the public space or plant trees and greenery.
