Spolana will contribute CZK 1 million to the project
of a fountain conversion into a relaxation zone. The inhabitants of Neratovice
chose this project as part of the ‘Spolana to People’ campaign. A total of 72%
of people voted in favour of the winning project. Thus, Spolana seeks to
actively involve the inhabitants in the decisions regarding future projects and
contribute to local communities’ development. The deadline for voting was on 12
May. The votes could be cast either electronically or into collection boxes.
This year’s ‘Spolana to People’ campaign follows the previous successful campaigns
organised by the parent company in Litvínov, Most, Veltrusy, and Kralupy nad
Vltavou, within ‘ORLEN Unipetrol to People’ projects.
“With almost 75% of votes, the winning project of converting a fountain
into a relaxation zone clearly prevailed. As a result, the fountain, which is
currently in terrible condition, will undergo revitalisation to serve the
town’s inhabitants. We are happy that Spolana will support this project that the
locals so demand,” said Roman Kroužecký, Mayor of Neratovice.
The ‘Spolana to
People’ campaign was launched in April. The inhabitants of Neratovice could
choose from the following projects: the purchase of exercise elements for
senior citizens at the Senior Club in Školní Street, a fountain’s conversion
into a relaxation zone, and building a workout and children’s playground in
Mlékojedy behind the fire station. The deadline for voting was on 12 May. The
project of rebuilding a fountain in the local square into a relaxation zone
received the highest number of votes. Spalana, a member of the ORLEN Unipetrol
Group, will contribute CZK 1 million to this project’s implementation. The town
of Neratovice will gradually implement all three projects on offer.
“I am delighted that this voting has raised increased interest among the
inhabitants. I want to thank everyone who joined the project, and we look
forward to the new relaxation zone that will serve the local citizens,” Piotr Kearney, Executive of Spolana, commented on the winning project.
The ORLEN
Unipetrol Group, including Spolana, regularly contributes to the projects of
revitalising the environment of the towns and municipalities near its
production plants. The locals usually choose such projects either
electronically or by casting their votes in a collection box. The Group also
supports towns and municipalities around Litvínov, Kralupy, and Neratovice
through annual donations to charity projects, local events or public activities.
