“We regularly upgrade the fire crew equipment and
emergency vehicles at Spolana. Our corporate firefighters assist in many
processes on the production premises and outside the Spolana site. Acquiring
the new vehicle will help us respond quicker and more efficiently,” Miroslav Falta, executive at Spolana, commented on the
new fire engine.
The new vehicle will be used to
react to emergencies within our corporate premises. It will also be available
as part of the Central Bohemian Region’s Fire Alarm Plan to respond outside the
main site. The Spolana firefighting crew is part of the integrated rescue
system and TRINS, so they are also deployed at incidents outside the production
premises.
“The Scania KHA 30 is another emergency vehicle
that is part of our fleet and equipment upgrade. Thanks to varied fire
extinguishing agents, the vehicle can extinguish all fire types, from standard
flammable substances such as wood, paper, and plastic to flammable liquids or
loaded equipment,” says Martin Tomi, the chief of Spolana’s fire crew.
The Scania KHA 30 8x2, weighing
32 tonnes and boasting a motor with an output of 500 hP (368 kW respectively),
is a versatile addition to the fleet. It features a two-tier pump with an
output of 3,000 litres per minute, pressure vessels for powder with a capacity
of 500 kg and 3,000 kg, and two tanks for extinguishing agents – water (4,000
litres) and foamer 4,000 litres. The vehicle front has a bumper carriage with
an output of 800 litres per minute. The upper body has voluminous means, a
carriage hose nozzle for water and foam with an output of 2,000 l/min, and a
powder thrower with an output of 40 kg/s. The KHA 30’s three rotating axles substantially
simplify the handling of the vehicle that is over 11 metres long and its road
passability.
